Romania Plywood Plant Improves Veneer Consistency with Custom Wood Veneer Dryer

Bucharest, Romania – European Wood Industry UpdateA plywood manufacturer in southern Romania focused on birch veneer export has upgraded its core workshop with a new customized wood veneer dryer. The local factory supplies plywood to furniture and construction buyers across Europe, where consistent veneer moisture and flatness are mandatory for export certification. The old wood dryer used fixed-temperature operation and could not adapt to seasonal humidity changes, so the drying machine often produced veneer with uneven moisture, warping and surface discoloration.

The customer mainly processes thin birch veneer between 0.6 mm and 1.5 mm. Before renovation, the unstable drying machine brought a reject rate above 9%, and many batches failed European inspection standards. The factory needed a reliable wood veneer dryer that could maintain stable drying conditions in both humid summer and cold dry winter.

Our technical team delivered a tailored wood veneer dryer with segmented hot air circulation and PLC intelligent control. Unlike ordinary drying machine models, this wood veneer dryer supports independent drying curve setting for birch veneer. It runs low-temperature conditioning at the initial stage, uniform dehumidification in the middle stage, and moisture balancing at the final stage. The thickened insulation shell reduces heat loss, so the wood dryer keeps stable chamber temperature even when the workshop temperature drops sharply.

After three months of continuous running, the wood veneer dryer controlled final veneer moisture steadily at 8%–11%. The veneer reject rate dropped to 2.2%, and batch-to-batch moisture difference was greatly reduced. Energy consumption of the new wood veneer dryer is 24% lower than the previous drying machine. The factory now passes European material inspection consistently and has signed several long-term plywood export contracts. The client commented that the precise wood veneer dryer removed their biggest quality bottleneck for overseas sales.
