2021-09-27 14:40:33

Moscow Tass news agency said that according to the evaluation of the agency of the forestry administration of the Russian Federation, the forest area of Russia has increased by 4.3 million hectares in the past 10 years, which represents that the deforestation crisis in Russia has ended.
"Since 2010, Russia's forest area has increased by 4.3 million hectares. This is equivalent to the territorial area of Denmark. The crisis of forest irreparable disappearance has ended. The largest increase in forest area is observed in the Omsk region, where the forest area reaches 2 million hectares," the Russian Federal Forestry Administration said
It was noted that the actual forest area, including national defense and security land, nature reserves and forests in densely populated areas, reached 1187.6 million hectares. On average, this is equivalent to 5.1 hectares of forest per citizen.
The Forestry Administration said that many factors have promoted the emergence of new forests, so trees grow faster than forests are cut down. In addition, forest recharge rules apply to all timber producers. Active reforestation within the framework of national ecological projects has also promoted positive momentum
