Difference between planer and rotary cutter
2021-09-22 08:47:51

Planer is the main equipment for producing veneer and micro veneer. According to the movement direction of the planer relative to the horizontal plane, the wood planer can be divided into vertical and horizontal. According to whether the planer direction is vertical or parallel to the length direction of wood fiber, the planer can be divided into transverse planer and longitudinal planer. The modern planer is only 1 / 3 of the size of the previous planer, with compact structure, light weight and easy installation and commissioning; It can be produced continuously, saving the time of loading wood and high production efficiency; The work is extremely smooth and almost no noise can be heard.
The thin veneer cut by the planer has beautiful and realistic texture, but the width of the planed veneer is narrow, generally about 400 mm or narrower, which needs to be spliced, the wood utilization rate is low, and the planed productivity is only about 10% of that of rotary cutting; At present, the planer used only planes micro veneer, and the maximum planer width of domestic planer can reach 720mm.
Rotary cutter is also one of the main equipment for producing veneer. In a sense, it is more widely used than planer. According to whether the wood section rotates around its own axis, the rotary cutting machine can be divided into concentric rotary cutting and eccentric rotary cutting. Concentric rotary cutting machine is also divided into stuck shaft rotary cutting machine and non stuck shaft rotary cutting machine. Eccentric rotary cutting can obtain beautiful radial patterns, but the productivity is lower than concentric rotary cutting.
The rotary cutter has a large volume and complex structure. The logs of the rotary cutter with a clamping shaft need to be centered before being put on the machine. If the centering is not accurate, intermittent broken veneers or narrow veneers will be spun out when starting rotary cutting. The more broken veneers or narrow veneers, the more sapwood veneers with good material will be lost, which is not conducive to the continuity of production. The log has bending, irregular section and large and small ends (taper) at both ends, which is easy to cause the spun veneer to be broken veneer and waste wood, and when the log diameter is reduced to a certain extent, it can not continue to spin cutting (that is, the remaining wood core causes wood waste). The non card shaft rotary cutting machine can realize the re rotary cutting of wood core. First, put the log on the card shaft rotary cutting machine for rotary cutting, and then transport the remaining wood core to the non card shaft rotary cutting machine for rotary cutting. At present, the wood core can be rotary cut to a diameter of Φ 25mm or less.
